Truth Online – What Makes You Buy
Alright, so today’s Live Broadcast of Truth Online didn’t quite go as planned…as you probably noticed. I had my 3 month old son in the studio with us today because of a sitter issue, so I tried to hurry everything along. My plan was to knock out the show while he was taking his nap but I felt extremely rushed and he kept waking up, so I wasn’t real satisfied with the show.
That’s why I decided not to add it to the blog, but I managed to cover some really good information.
On a side note: I’m currently looking at moving the show to a different day in the evening time, since Tuesdays and Wednesdays have the most online activity. I haven’t quite decided yet so I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.
Here’s the rundown on Today’s show:

Internet Video views climbed to a record breaking high last year, with a total of 31 billion videos watched. It was estimated that the average person was said to have watched 182 videos in the month of November alone. So what does this mean for you?? Well only 39% of those videos watched came from Youtube, which means that 71% of the views come from other Video networking sites. This is why it’s so important to spread your videos to as many sharing sites as possible.

Blackberry unleashed their new Blackberry Presenter for power point users. This cool device allows you to connect your Blackberry smart phone to a projector or VGA screen, saving you from hauling around that Laptop.
Google gives birth to the Nexus One smart phone. This thing has a pretty damn sexy design (closely resembles the iphone) and is the next big contender against the popular iphone. You can find an awesome review on this phone at http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/04/nexus-one-review/
I then tackled the question “what makes you want to buy from someone”?
Sounds like a pretty stupid question to ask but if you take a step back and closely look at the reasons that influence you, then you may be surprised. There are many factors that convince you to buy a product and it usually is aimed toward building desire instead of need. There is a long list of tactics used to get you to buy, but some of the areas I covered were:
** The person selling it
** The way it’s being marketed
** Are they using the art of selling without actually selling?
** Are they drawing you in with the infamous F.F.W. code? (Fun, Freedom, Wealth)
** Does the product popularity influence you. (Everybody else has it)
Watch a few infomercials and keep a mental note of the various ways that they have skillfully mastered the art of convincing you to buy the product. Some approaches are very sneaky and others are blatantly obvious.

See you next week,
