Master The Search Engines
Everyone wants to be at the top of all the search engines so they can get the most traffic. They say that the ideal spots are from 1-5, but as long as your listed on the front page you are greatly increasing your chances of growing your business. So lets look at two important power houses in SEO: Your Alexa & Google Rankings.
Alexa Rank
The Alexa Rank is kind of like a big popularity contest. Data is collected for a few months on the number on page views the site gets and how many users it has. You can check out how Google dominates pretty much everything out there at: www.alexa.com . Every website has a Alexa Rank so in direct competition with everyone else, your shooting for a rank far under a million. The way to increase your Alexa rank is to increase your amount of traffic. The more people visit your site the better.
Google Page Rank
Your Google Page Rank determines where you will be placed at on Google by giving your site a score of 0-10 (10 being the best). Now I use Google in this article as an example because it is the most common used search engine, but it means the same for all search engines.
So how do you get that top spot? Well there are 3 main things Google considers when ranking your site:
- The more you can keep your site updated the better. Make it a habit to constantly add new and fresh quality content to your site as often as you can.
- Keywords are especially useful and will greatly increase your chances of Google finding and ranking your site higher. Make sure your site has lots of quality content and your using good keyword placement with no more than 3%-5% density. Also make sure your using very descriptive META tags and website descriptions to help increase your rank.
- The more websites you can get your link on the better. Spread your website link across the net where you get the chance.
- And of course when you’re all done, make sure you submit your site to Google and other search engines, as well as create a “site map” for Yahoo and Google.
