Creating Backlinks

What are Backlinks?

Backlinks are when you put your website link on another website. When you have a lot of backlinks pointing to your site, you greatly increase your Google page rank. You could easily spend hours and weeks just posting backlinks everywhere but they are only useful if your posting them on a site with a high PR (page rank) rating. I’ve gone over the importance of links a little in the past but now I want to show you how to create a backlink and where to post them.

How to Create a Backlink

This is the HTML code for creating a backlink: a href=”your url”>Your keyword<

Make sure to add this symbol < at the very beginning and this symbol /a> at the very end. I couldn’t add them up there because I’m currently typing in html and it keeps turning the above into a link.

As you can see it will first have a spot for “you url”. Those of you that do not not know what a url is then just open you website to any page and up at the top of the screen is a window that has you url in it. It will start with http:// . As you brows from page to page the url changes. Decide which page you want everyone to land on first and highlight that url, then drop it in the HTML code over “your url” (drop it between the comas).

Next is the section of the code that says Your Keyword. Between these > < marks is where you will type in a keyword that is relevant to your nich. This will be what’s known as your anchor text Examples would be cash gifting, global gifting system, your name, etc… After you post your code it will display the actual keyword you typed in. This will actually be a link to whatever url you typed in the code. The code will be invisible but the search engine spiders will pick up on all of these codes.

Where Do I Put Them?

Now that you have created your backlink, the question is where to stick these? You can put a backlink just about anywhere you write something. A comment in a blog, in a forum, in an article you write… really just about anywhere you go that allows you to type text. Of course the backlinks do the most good when you leave them on websites with a high PR of at least 4 and try to use it in areas relating to your nich.

I already mentioned a few places to post your backlink:

* Articles
* Blog Comments
* Forums

But in addition to these areas, here are some other great ideas:

* Set up a free blog (if your talented create a couple)
* Add comments to Ezine articles
* Respond to Yahoo Answers
* Create a Squidoo Lens
* Ask questions @ wis.dm

Generally any place that allows you to interact and post replys and comments. Anytime you write something on another website, drop your backlink and see if it works. It can’t hurt to try. You’ll spread your advertising and increase your PR because of it.

Here is a link to some free software that will search through tons of blogs by the keyword you type. It shows what the PR (page rank) is for each blog and you can then decide which post you want to leave a comment for. You then read the post, and comment with your backlink.

Now this is only the lite version since it is free, so it limits the search results, but if you can get the full version it could be very useful.

    Just a question what theme do you use? Is it a exclusive theme? Did you hired someone to create it? I like that design. My website is http://www.wordpressrobot.com/amazing-wordpress-plugin

    Hi Stacey, thanks for the comment. The theme is AutoFusion Promag and the layout fit really well with what we needed. Of course we had to go through and add our own images but we really like the way it’s layout. But now, as we’re beginning to change our way of delivering content, we’re coming up with new ideas of the type of blog template we would really like designed. Only problem is we kinda suck at writing code, so there’s not much we can do. Know any good code writers that could help us out??
