PPC Marketing – Know What Works

January 30, 2010:: Category - Affiliate & CPA Marketing
PPC Pay Per Click

PPC (Pay Per Click) is the number one choice for paid marketing online, in terms of quick results.This doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily the most profitable choice for your ROI, but it still works exceptionally well. PPC is the easiest way to start advertising because you can get your ad up and running in a matter of minutes and start receiving traffic. PPC can make you a lot of money if done right and I want to point out a few key points that will help you increase your profits.

A common newbie mistake is to start off with a small advertising budget, burn through your spendings really fast because of poorly set up campaigns, then quite in frustration. If you plan to see an extremely good return in your investment then you need to be prepared to loose money and have patients. It will take you some time in the beginning to test your campaigns and find a winning combination, but during that time you will loose money on testing and plowing through poorly written campaigns. Your goal here is to keep close tabs on your ads that are converting and continue to tweak those ads that need help. You will find many factors that make a winning ad such as the use of exact numbers instead of the word: ex: “This little secret landed me an extra $3,172 in my bank account overnight”. By using exact numbers instead of saying “thousands” it attracts attention and demands more clicks.

This is an example of a simple key element that might take someone quite a bit of money from testing to figure out, but it further highlights my point that simple newbie mistakes can cost you money and lead to quiting. You need to remember that doing your research and having the patients to stick it out will be your best investment. If something doesn’t work try something else, and just remember that you will start to make money but you just have to get past the hump.

PPC

Another key point will be the amount of ads you have out. Yes you might have a tight budget in the beginning but if you want to see quick massive results then I recommend that you start with a modest budget and launch 50 – 100 ads all at once. There are so many different ways to tailor your ad to the demographics that your offer targets. This can range from all different age groups and gender, to your style of writing for targeting an emotionally driven ad. People buy stuff for many different reasons and by widening your base you can really open up a huge traffic funnel.

One more idea I want to give you is to try something that not many marketers do. Instead of just sending visitors directly to the offer or landing page, try setting up a free Wordpress blog based around the product or offer. Make sure the blog is put together just as you would a normal blog with a contact us page, terms and conditions, images, and plenty of content. The point here is to give the visitor the feeling of comfort by using a content filed blog as a disguise for an ad. You’re still trying to get them to take your offer but you are doing it in a non sleazy way by giving them value in return. Mastering this approach takes a little research but it can be very effective.

There is so much to cover when it comes to PPC and honestly I could probably fill up pages of information but I’m going to stop for now. Remember that the best way to learn (beside first doing your research) is going to be from doing it hands on. So many people waste time constantly trying to learn everything instead of actually getting in there and doing it. This is usually because of lack of confidence or just plain fear of failing, but you will defiantly speed up your learning process by just doing it. Experience beats knowledge every time.

Promote Affiliate Offers With Your Blog

January 29, 2010:: Category - Affiliate & CPA Marketing
Affiliate Marketing

Using your blog is a great start for promoting your affiliate offers because you already have a good standing with your readers. If you have a successful blog that attracts the attention of a lot of readers then, more than likely, they already trust and respect your opinion. This is a good thing because getting people to purchase products through your affiliate link is now that much easier.

Before you start promoting these products, here are a few tips to help you get higher conversions:

1. Your content is most important
Your content is what brought your readers to you in the first place, but now that you are endorsing a product you need to provide quality content based on the product. Some people will just put up their affiliate link on their site and hope others will click the link but you will get a higher response if you provide information about the product. They already trust your opinion so this is a good time to tell them why you recommend this product and how amazing it is. You might even want to list the Pro’s and Con’s. Yes I said Con’s too. Listing some of the disadvantages of the product gives the reader a feel of you being honest with them.

2. Don’t get money hungry
Your readers don’t want to constantly read a “pitch fest” so don’t continue to shove it down their throat. Learn good copyrighting skills and develop the quality to casually slip in a mention of your product here and there. You want to use your ability to drop a hint about your product in a non sale, non hype way. For instance, if you were promoting an Ebook on gardening (titled “Flower Passion”) then you might write a post on how you spent your weekend planting these rare African flowers and how beautiful they are. I really don’t know a thing about planting flowers but “Flower Passion” was simple and easy to follow. My only problem is now my wife wants me to line the entire driveway with these things.

3. Know your readers
Your offers have to stay relevant to the type of readers you have or attract. If your blog is geared toward sports then you probably won’t make any money promoting DVD’s on dancing. Your readers might primarily be males who would easily buy anything associated with sports memorabilia and the such, but if you through in something way off beat then you’ll be lucky to make one sale from it.

4. Don’t overwhelm your Blog
Some might think that since they have a high traffic blog then there is nothing wrong with filling it up with a lot of links. Since they are all relevant then it’s obvious that they will bring me a lot more money right? Wrong! People do not want to be overwhelmed with ads all over the place. Even if they enjoy buying products through your blog then they might be easily turned off by a multitude of links and your blog will quickly loose the appeal that it once had.

5. Have Patients
Probably one of the most important aspects of Affiliate Marketing. It takes time to completely learn the in’s and out’s of how to be an effective affiliate marketer so don’t quit. When you’re first starting out then it’s best to constantly tweak your ad performance to see what works best and get people to buy your offer. Give it time and keep working hard.

Affiliate Marketing With Twitter

January 27, 2010:: Category - Truth Online

We wanted to tackle a question that numerous people ask, “how do you make money with social networks”? There are various ways to do this and several different social sites that you could use to do so, but we want to show you from using the most popular social network…Twitter.

The idea behind using social media to make money falls back on having a huge fanbase built in your network. You can build up thousands of followers in a very short amount of time, then you can simply offer products to them in a cool non sales way. There is a talent involved to generate a lot of sales through Twitter but once you get going it’s very simple (in our opinion).
Check out the video and we’ll explain how to do this so you can start building thousands of followers in no time.

Sorry, the video is a little choppy.

Introduction To CPA Marketing

January 23, 2010:: Category - Affiliate & CPA Marketing
Affiliate & CPA Marketing

The most common starting point to searching for a way to make money online, usually starts with going to the Google website and typing in “how to make money online”. As you know this will return thousands and thousands of results that can seem very overwhelming. The more time you spend as an online marketer the more opportunities you see continuing to rise to the top, but the average person never really is able to grasp how the heck people are making a living on the internet. There are many different ways to make money online but one of the most lucrative and simple ways (in my opinion) is CPA Marketing.

What Is CPA Marketing?
CPA Marketing, also known as Cost Per Action, is allowing marketers to make thousands of dollars per day. Some are making as high as $40k a day but of course this is not all profit. CPA Marketing focuses on generating leads for websites where you could for instance earn $1.25 just for someone filling in their zip code on a landing page and hitting submit. In CPA Marketing you never have to sell any products, in fact in some cases you might actually give free stuff away and make money every time some one takes your free offer. Have you ever seen one of those dating service forms where they ask you to fill in your name, email address, and so on? Well chances are that a CPA Marketer received $3 or $4 dollars just for someone filling in that information. Imagine placing several ads like this all over the internet and thousands of people looking at them every day.

How Does CPA Work?
CPA Marketing has what are called CPA Networks that act as the middleman between you and the advertisers. They are in charge of hosting the CPA offers that get sent to them from their advertisers and then they have you come in as the affiliates and promote the offers which thereby drives traffic to the sites. They make their money from a portion of each lead you generate, for example: If the advertiser pays the CPA network $4 for every lead they can send them, and the CPA network pays you $3 for every lead you send them, then the CPA network makes $1 for every lead. This might upset some people but for all of the work and benefits you get for working with a CPA network then you’ll find it well worth their cut.

These networks provide numerous offers for you to promote and you will receive a unique affiliate code from each. They also offer pre made materials for you to advertise with and they track all of your affiliate data, and they give you an individual manager to work with you and help you in your journey. Plus the best thing about CPA networks are that they keep track of all your leads for you then cut you a nice check at the end of the month.

How To Work With CPA Networks
There are so many different CPA networks to choose from but the best advise I can give is to keep away from the small time networks. They tend to be a bit more shady and there’s a possibility you might not get your full pay out on time or maybe not at all. In order to get started, the first thing you need to do is apply to a CPA network, almost like filling out a resume. Remember that it’s important to sell yourself and prove to them that you are worth their time, after all they want to make money too and if you are not worth their time then why should they bother. They will require you to enter your personal information and website, some might even call you for a one on one phone conversation. But if you are not accepted for a network that you really want to work with then it might be a good idea for you to take the initiative to call them and sell yourself.

This is a good start to get you in the door. From here on out you need to study the best offers to promote and the demand for those offers. Your account can grow immensely if you really do your research and work hard at advertising.

Increase Conversions Through Autoresponders

January 21, 2010:: Category - Affiliate & CPA Marketing
Autoresponder Marketing

Email marketing through your Autoresponder is not as popular as it was a year ago. There is much speculation that the use of an Autoresponder in your business isn’t needed as much as it once was because of social media. Many marketers are doing away with their autoresponder and focusing on their conversions through Twitter and other social sites, because building a list is so much faster and easier. On the other hand, others have decided to keep their autoresponder because they still get a lot of conversions from giving stuff away and attracting customers.

Your take on this could go either way, but if you have the time then why not use both and increase your chances.

The purpose of email marketing is to drawl people to your site then get them to opt in to your mailing list by way of your autoresponders opt in form. The most popular way to attract someone to fill in their name and email address usually comes from being offered something valuable for free. As people flood in to your mailing list you can then use a series of pre-written emails that slowly builds a connection & trust with your prospect. The secret behind increasing conversations with your emails relies on your copywriting abilities and the way you can relate to you prospect. Since you don’t have the ability to talk face to face with this person, you have to use your words to build their trust. So lets look at some things that you can do to increase your opt in rate and your conversations.

1. Placement
Studies have been conducted to track how people read ads and the reasons that get someone to take action. One of the studies they found was that our eyes are naturally directed to the top right side of the ad, and by simple placing your opt in form on the top right hand side of the page you can drastically increase your opt in rate.

2. Landing Page (if you’re using one)
A landing page will attract a lot more interested people if you have a good layout. Some landing pages are cluttered with flash, images, or a lot of text, and all these factors will hinder a successful landing page. People do not like to feel confused when they hit your landing page and the easier they know what you want them to do, the better. The best landing pages have 3 simple aspects:

** A video
** A simple opt in form
** A call to action

In this case, you need to provide an informative or content filled video about what you’re offering and you should also tell them to opt in so they can receive your free offer. Next they will divert their eyes to the right of the video where you have your opt in form and they should feel compelled to fill in their name and email address. If they don’t then you need to make sure to provide a call to action button as part of your opt in form that makes them take action (ex: “Send My Free Videos”). You can use what fits your niche best. It also helps to add a big arrow pointing at the call to action button because it directs their attention.

3. Free Stuff

Free-Stuff

This can easily be one of the most important parts because you almost have to bribe them with a sweet enough offer in exchange for their info. There are many different ideas you can use here like:

** Ebooks
** Videos
** Video course
** Audios
** Software trial
** Newsletter

The key is to use your best stuff and give it away. Sticking to digital products, and of course using your own content, is a must because it doesn’t cost you anything to reproduce. The stuff you give away has to have a high perceived value and really feel like they are getting something amazing.

4. Don’t sales pitch them
Once they are on your list then it’s up to you to keep them and not scare them away with constantly sending them “buy my stuff” emails. It’s best to start off sending content filled emails, that pertain to why they opted in, for the first couple of weeks that way they can earn your trust and see your knowledge. Then you can start witting a little more about yourself and maybe make the emails a bit more informal and fun.This will build your likeability with them, almost like a friendship. From here it’s a lot easier to write semi casual emails as if you were their friend, and also include your offer as well.

At this point they know, like, and trust you enough to buy your product or at least respect your opinion. This is the building block to getting outstanding conversations with your autoresponder. Offer really good free stuff, build a relationship, then offer your products.

Good luck out there, I hope you make a lot of money.

Truth Online – What Makes You Buy

January 08, 2010:: Category - Truth Online

Alright, so today’s Live Broadcast of Truth Online didn’t quite go as planned…as you probably noticed. I had my 3 month old son in the studio with us today because of a sitter issue, so I tried to hurry everything along. My plan was to knock out the show while he was taking his nap but I felt extremely rushed and he kept waking up, so I wasn’t real satisfied with the show.

That’s why I decided not to add it to the blog, but I managed to cover some really good information.

On a side note: I’m currently looking at moving the show to a different day in the evening time, since Tuesdays and Wednesdays have the most online activity. I haven’t quite decided yet so I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Here’s the rundown on Today’s show:

Online Video

Internet Video views climbed to a record breaking high last year, with a total of 31 billion videos watched. It was estimated that the average person was said to have watched 182 videos in the month of November alone. So what does this mean for you?? Well only 39% of those videos watched came from Youtube, which means that 71% of the views come from other Video networking sites. This is why it’s so important to spread your videos to as many sharing sites as possible.

Blackberry Presenter

Blackberry unleashed their new Blackberry Presenter for power point users. This cool device allows you to connect your Blackberry smart phone to a projector or VGA screen, saving you from hauling around that Laptop.

Google Nexus One

Google gives birth to the Nexus One smart phone. This thing has a pretty damn sexy design (closely resembles the iphone) and is the next big contender against the popular iphone. You can find an awesome review on this phone at http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/04/nexus-one-review/

I then tackled the question “what makes you want to buy from someone”?

Sounds like a pretty stupid question to ask but if you take a step back and closely look at the reasons that influence you, then you may be surprised. There are many factors that convince you to buy a product and it usually is aimed toward building desire instead of need. There is a long list of tactics used to get you to buy, but some of the areas I covered were:
** The person selling it
** The way it’s being marketed
** Are they using the art of selling without actually selling?
** Are they drawing you in with the infamous F.F.W. code? (Fun, Freedom, Wealth)
** Does the product popularity influence you. (Everybody else has it)

Watch a few infomercials and keep a mental note of the various ways that they have skillfully mastered the art of convincing you to buy the product. Some approaches are very sneaky and others are blatantly obvious.

Truth Online 1/1/10 Happy New Year

January 01, 2010:: Category - Truth Online

Truth Online went live today with the topic of “How to build a Fanbase”.

In the news today I covered a man who was offered a $30 Million Hollywood movie deal from Ghost House Productions, for a video he created on Youtube. With a $300 budget and a lot of imagination, he was already receiving Hollywood deals 4 days after uploading the video. I thought it was a pretty cool video, check it out below:

Pretty cool video dude, congratulations!

** I answered some viewer emails including a more in depth discussion about what to sell on Ebay and how to make some quick cash.

** The big question about the Ignite product was finally answered and we no longer plan to sell the product. We will, in fact, be giving it away through individual classroom settings where I’ll cover all of the basic aspects needed to create a successful business online and show you step by step instructions on how to do it. These workshops will be held on Thursdays, but the time and start date are not yet decided.

** Then I discussed what it takes to build a huge online Fanbase and also what it takes to be popular. There are several different ways to do this but the ideas I listed were:

Building a Fanbase:
Social Media
Blog
Youtube Videos (video Networking)
Vlog (sexy Phil, What the Buck, etc…
Article writer
Participate in forum discussions

And in order to gain popularity:
Be different & stand out
Be an expert in your niche
Confidence
Be entertaining
Relate to your audience (way you talk, dress, etc..)
Research your biggest competition

It was a great show and I had fun answering some of those emails. If you have any questions or comments that you would like to send in, then feel free to write to us at: contactus@mytrainingwheels.com and we’ll be happy to answer those questions on next weeks show.

Happy new year everyone and have a great weekend.
